I doubt that it has anything to do with software, its cleary a hardware issue you can see the wheel stops spinning in one direction and then it moves backwards in the opposite way. Mouse is basically unusuable in freespin mode. I tried all, Windows, OSX, disabling a Smooth Scrolling, setting lower wheel sensitivity, blutooth or reciever, nothing helps. To this day Logitech did not solved anything, with latest software and mouse bought in late 2015 the scrolling issue is still there. I've bought a MX Master a week ago (October) installed latest software and the issue is still there. I read all posts regarding this issue on this forum which go a back to 2014. You could set the middle mouse button to switch scrolling modes. The Revolution could switch between scrolling modes - one mode that was click-spin mode, and one that was free-spin mode.
It looked nearly the same - and had the weighted scrool wheel. I bought this as a replacement to one of them that suddenly stopped gettin picked up by its wireless dongle for no reason I can determine. I had three Revolution MX mice - and none of them did this. This issue is improperly marked as solved by Logitech.
